Selection of songs and submission of song list

* Select seven Tosti songs
(Four songs in Italian and three songs in French or English)

* Select one Japanese song (from the list of test pieces below)

Japanese songs that are assigned as test pieces.
Aki no tsuki (Yamada Kosaku)
Kono michi (Yamada Kosaku)
Karatachi no hana (Yamada Kosaku)
Nijuusan ya (Yamada Kosaku)
Hamabe no uta (Narita Tamezo)
Sakura yokocho (Bekku Sadao)
Ajisai (Dan Ikuma)
Haru (Dan Ikuma)
Kaze no kodomo (Nakada Yoshinao)
Salvia (Nakada Yoshinao)

* Contestants must perform the songs from memory but are free to choose the key.

* Fill in the seven songs you have chosen on the song list form and send the form to the office of Asia Preliminary Competition at Japan Tosti Istituto to arrive no later than July 31, 2010.
(Once you have submitted the song list form, you cannot change the songs selected.)

* Sheet music for the pianist must be provided by contestant.

First elimination round:
One Tosti song:
Contestant shall sing one Italian song that he or she has chosen from his or her submitted seven songs.

One Japanese song:
Contestant shall sing one song that he or she has chosen from among the test pieces listed above.
* Non-Japanese contestants who choose to participate are not required to sing the Japanese song from memory.

Second elimination round:
Two Tosti songs:
From the submitted seven songs, contestant shall sing one song in Italian other than the one that he or she sang in the first elimination round, and one additional song of contestant's choice in French or English.
Final elimination round:
Contestant shall sing two songs that the chairperson of the judging committee designates from the seven songs the contestant submitted.
(These songs will be designated without regard as to whether the contestant has sung them in the first or second elimination rounds.)

* Contestants may be asked to cut short their performance by the judging committee during the competition in the event of time constraints.

Piano accompanist

First and second elimination rounds:
Contestants may bring their own piano accompanists or choose a Japanese or Italian official piano accompanist who has been designated by the organizer of the competition. (Indicate preference on the song list form.)

* Contestants are allowed time to meet and consult with piano accompanists prior to their performance.

Final elimination round:
Accompanist designated by the organizer of the competition.

* Rehearsals (meeting accompaniment) with the accompanist will be held at the competition venue.

Rules on Judging
* Contestants and judges on the judging committee shall have no contact with one another from the start of the first elimination round until the end of the final elimination round.

* The decisions of the judging committee are final and any objections or complaints will not be accepted.

* Prior to the event, the office of the competition will notify contestants in writing of the designated date and time at which they are to appear. In all elimination rounds, contestants will be asked to show their participation certificates at reception and will be given further instructions by the competition staff.

* The order of performances by contestants shall be determined by the organizer.

* Upon completion of all the judging of the first elimination round, the contestants who have advanced to the second elimination round, Akishino Japanese Song Prize and Akishino Japanese Song Friendship Prize will be announced.

* Upon completion of judging of the second elimination round, the contestants who have advanced to the final elimination round and Tosti Piano Accompanist Prize will be announced.

* The results of the judging will be posted on the website as well.

* Any contestant who is unable to participate on the designated date and time must notify the office of Asia Preliminary Competition at Japan Tosti Istituto as soon as possible.
