Initial

Record the following two songs to a CD, MD or cassette tape.
Recording media shall be inscribed with the contestant's name, song titles and the place and date of the recording.
One Tosti song

One Japanese song
Musical selections are made by contestants, but must not exceed three minutes. Note: Persons other than Japanese are also free to participate.
Note: Initial evaluations will be conducted by the Japan Tosti Institute and the Istituto Nazionale Tostiano.

One Japanese song
Musical selections are made by contestants and may be the same as that of the initial evaluation, but must not exceed three minutes. Note: Persons other than Japanese are also free to participate.
Second and final
elimination
round
Perform the following two songs.
Two Tosti songs
Musical selections are made by the chairperson of the judging committee and may be test pieces or selections of the contestants' own choice.
Musical selections for the second elimination round will be designated at the
announcement of first elimination round results, and those for the final
elimination round at the announcement of the second elimination round results.
Singers must perform from memory (with the exception non-Japanese contestants singing Japanese songs).
In the process of adjudication, performances may be in part shortened due to considerations of time.
